LITTLE OWL TREE HOUSE
Learn About Us!
Committed to Excellence
We have adapted a little of Jean Piaget, Maria Montessori, and Mildred Parten theory, and believe that is it important to work on children cognitive development in an environment that supports their culture and independence while learning through different types of play.
We provide a clean, organized, friendly, and inviting space that is more like a family setting than a classroom. We spend a lot of time exploring through touch and have decided to bring many natural elements into the classroom. The characteristics of a good teacher is to be involved in the child’s life, inside the center we bring the child’s culture to the classroom. Our goal is to build positive relationships with the families and to meet the child’s needs. We believe keeping an open line of communication helps the children be successful. Offering the same things in the classroom that the family offers at home so it’s not a drastic difference and they are able to feel comfortable. We embrace diversity by providing the children with music in different languages. We use music and movement as a time to enjoy all styles of music. I find even though the children don’t speak the language they use this time to try to pronounce the words and even add the words from their own language when they can’t pronounce the words. In our cooking class we prepared dishes from different cultures and use this time for the children to ask questions to help them understand more about others who have different backgrounds from their own
I believe that a childcare provider plays a huge part in children lives, I strive every day to make a difference with each child in my care.
The mission of Little Owl Tree House is to provide safe, affordable, high quality child care for the families living or working in the Downriver Area. Little Owl Tree House provides a cognitively based program for children ages six weeks to twelve years. We provide a home like environment where children are encouraged to develop at their own pace. Our staff is committed to the families we serve, providing support and encouragement.
Our vision is to help children learn about themselves while emphasizing individual growth and development in an academically oriented curriculum. We would like for our children we care for to look back at their childcare experience and know that they are someone and to never think differently.
